We are committed to protecting the privacy of Australian motorists and visitors in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), as well as global best practices including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

This Privacy Policy details how we handle information collected when you access our live fuel price search, interactive maps, editorial fuel guides, and crowd-sourced reporting utilities.

2. Information We Collect

We believe in data minimization. We only collect information strictly necessary to provide real-time fuel price intelligence:

• Geolocation Data (Location Services): When you enable location permissions or tap "My GPS", your web browser or device provides your approximate latitude and longitude. This coordinate is used ephemerally in real time solely to calculate driving distances and display nearby petrol stations. We do not permanently track, log, profile, or sell your continuous GPS movement history.
• User-Submitted Price Data: If you contribute a price update or submit station feedback, we record the reported price, station identifier, timestamp, and optional pseudonym/account token.
• Technical & Log Data: When accessing our servers, standard web server logs automatically collect your IP address (anonymized where feasible), browser type (User-Agent), referring URL, pages viewed, and operating system for diagnostics, DDoS protection, and server health.
• Contact Inquiries: When you submit our Contact Us form, we receive your name, email address, subject, and message content to respond to your inquiry.

4. Official Government Data Feeds & Third-Party Integrations

FuelPapa integrates statutory public fuel price feeds authorized by Australian state authorities, including the New South Wales Government OneGov FuelCheck API and Western Australia FuelWatch. We do not transmit any personal user information to these government data gateways when fetching station pricing.

5. How We Protect Your Data

We employ industry-standard security safeguards to protect stored data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All communication between your device and fuelpapa.com is encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

FuelPapa is intended for adult motorists, fleet operators, and drivers holding an Australian driver's licence. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a minor has submitted personal details, please contact us and we will promptly delete the data.
